School Safety Update
“See Something, Hear Something, Say Something” is both a nationwide effort and a KUSD initiative designed to help protect our schools and ensure a safe learning environment. This initiative proved effective on Wednesday, August 27, when students promptly reported hearing of a potential threat to the BMS administration.
The school immediately initiated a lockdown while law enforcement responded. Following a thorough investigation, the threat was identified and addressed, and the lockdown was safely lifted.
In light of recent tragic events in Minneapolis, our administrative team also conducted a debriefing to review our procedures and strengthen our readiness.
We ask employees, parents, guardians, and caretakers to remind students of the importance of reporting any concerns to a trusted adult. Likewise, all district employees are reminded to remain approachable so that students feel safe coming forward. Together, we play a critical role in maintaining a safe and supportive school community.
Thank you,
Lemual Adson, Superintendent
Kayenta Unified School District No. 27
