We welcome all parents and community members to volunteer in our school. Some volunteer positions (especially those which involve direct contact with students) may require a background check. Please contact our front office for more information.
Volunteering—it really does take a village! We need your help to accomplish our goal of providing a great education to our students. With so many ways to lend a hand, we’re sure you’ll find an area that you enjoy. Come on and jump right in. What are you waiting for?
Kayenta Elementary School has developed a site council as an advisory group to help make decisions reflecting school improvements. Our committee reflects the ethnic composition of Kayenta and consists of parents, teachers, non-certified personnel, administration, and concerned community members. We hold meetings once a month; look on our school calendar for dates and times. Please plan on joining us!
Students may not bring siblings or friends to visit school at any time. Parents and other adult visitors must sign in at the front office before proceeding through the school. No person may enter school property for any reason (including visits, audits, or activities) without administrative approval. We require all visitors to wear a visitor’s badge while on campus.
Students may raise funds for school activities with prior authorization. Community-wide or off-campus fundraising activities require the authorization of the Governing Board. We do not permit door-to-door (or teacher-to-teacher) sales and order taking. We do not allow fundraising activities during school learning hours.
If your group is planning a bake sale, or wants to offer concessions during our athletic events, you must first apply for a Food Handler’s Permit from the city of Kayenta. You can find permit information on the Navajo County website.
