Superintendent Message

Welcome Message from the Superintendent

I would like to take this time to extend a heartfelt welcome back to Kayenta Unified School District No. 27. The past few years have been challenging with many unexpected priorities which took time away from optimum learning experiences for students. As we begin year two of normal school, we must still acknowledge the interruption to learning from the last few years. Teachers, employees, and district administration partnering with parents can be highly effective in addressing the interruption of learning and facing the trauma of the last few years. Optimism and having a positive outlook that we all can make a difference can be the difference in providing a learning environment that supports all students, families, and employees.

Three academic and learning priorities this year are to continue the implementation of the Beyond Textbooks (BT) curriculum framework and the Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) under the umbrella of the Professional Learning Community (PLC). Please contact your school if you would like to learn more about academic and learning priorities.

As we start this year let us all focus on fostering a nurturing, inspiring, and inclusive learning environment. The district has learned much in the past few years. As the superintendent and on behalf of the governing board expect all employees to develop positive working relationships through enhanced communication among all stakeholders involved with Kayenta Unified School District No. 27. Positive relationships will enhance communication and provide a safe learning environment. School safety is everyone’s responsibility. Contact your school if there are questions about communication and school safety. Visit the school district website as necessary to remind all of the values and beliefs of the school district.

Thank you for sending your student to part of the KUSD family.

Sincerely,

Lemual B. Adson, Superintendent
