School Tax Credit

Some extracurricular activities—like sports, music, field trips, and after-school tutoring-- cannot be fully funded by school districts. In 1997, the Arizona Legislature passed a bill (ARS 43-1089.01) allowing Arizona taxpayers to contribute up to $400 for married couples filing jointly and up to $200 for single taxpayers to a public school, and then deduct that entire amount from their state tax bill. Everyone wins - taxpayers and students!

This tax credit is available to all Arizona taxpayers regardless of whether or not they have children in school. Just indicate which school and which program you would like to support, or you can designate your money to be given to the school that has the greatest need.

Some important things to remember when contributing in order to receive the AZ Tax Credit:

  • The amount of the tax credit you take does not have to be for the total allowable amount of $400. You can make a difference for our students with just $20, $50, or $100.
  • You can deduct your contribution to the public schools, up to $400 for married couples filing jointly and up to $200 for single taxpayers, from your state tax bill.
  • You can split your contribution between schools.
  • Tax credit donations provide extracurricular activities such as sports, music, educational field trips, and after-school tutoring.

Thank you for your tax credit donations! Since they provide our students with educational opportunities they would not otherwise receive, they are very important to our schools.
